PLATFORM GUIDE
UGC Platforms for Creators: How to Compare Them
A UGC platform can help a creator discover briefs, but it is not automatically the best place to build a business. Compare the actual workflow: who can join, how clients are matched, what the platform controls, how payment works and whether the brief gives you enough information to scope the job.

Start with eligibility and geography
Platforms may limit participation by country, age, category, account history or creator profile. Read the current creator terms rather than relying on an old social post or roundup. A platform that cannot pay creators in your market is not a practical option.
Compare the route to work
Some services list open briefs. Others match creators to campaigns or manage the client relationship themselves. Open listings give you more choice but may create more competition. Managed matching can reduce prospecting but may give you less control over client contact and negotiation.
Read the commercial terms
Check how and when payment is released, whether platform fees apply, what happens if a client changes the brief, and how disputes are handled. You also need to know who approves the work and whether the platform sets default usage terms.
Check rights before delivery
A platform workflow does not remove the need to understand usage. Confirm where the asset may appear, whether paid media is included, whether raw footage is requested, and whether exclusivity or posting is part of the assignment.
Use platforms as one channel
A platform can be useful for early briefs and repeat work, but it should sit alongside a portfolio, referrals and direct relationships. Keep your own record of formats, projects and permissions so your work history does not disappear inside someone else’s dashboard.
